Preventative Cardiology
There are many risk factors for cardiovascular disease including a family history of heart issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and genetics. In order to reduce your risk of developing severe cardiovascular health problems, it's important to see a cardiologist to determine your cardiovascular risk.
Based on your medical records and physical exam, we help prevent cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients by first understanding the entire picture of your overall health. To develop a preventative cardiology plan, each patient receives:
- Cardiovascular evaluation
- Lipid panel
- Cardiac imaging
Some patients may also undergo a stress test, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, or other testing. Based on the results of the tests and cardiovascular evaluation, Dr. Nadar will develop a treatment plan to help you from developing extensive heart disease.
What Causes Heart Disease?
Heart disease, including coronary artery disease, includes a wide range of disorders that affect the heart and vascular system. Many causes of heart disease are preventable. The most common preventable causes of heart disease are:
- Smoking
- Unhealthy diet
- Obesity
- Sedentary lifestyle
We understand it may be challenging for some patients to make lifestyle changes that will positively impact their cardiovascular health. During your appointments, Dr. Nadar can discuss ways to quit smoking and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Some causes of heart disease are out of your control. Congenital defects and a family history may be contributing factors to developing heart disease.
